Family entertainment is shifting—from simple amusement to experience-driven play. Children’s playgrounds today are expected not only to entertain, but also to inspire curiosity and learning through exploration.
In the QUARTERS PLATFORM, the client’s vision centered on “education through play.” They wanted to create a space where children could build confidence, interact with others, and grow through real experiences.
Funlandia took part in this vision by designing the unpowered play zone—a key portion of the park that brings immersive play to life.
Our role was not to define the overall theme, but to shape a space where children can truly learn through play.
From the very beginning, both Funlandia and the client agreed:The unpowered play area wouldn’t serve as a filler—it would become a core experiential zone where imagination and challenges meet.
Rather than focusing purely on excitement or competition, we designed with exploration, collaboration, and discovery in mind. As children climb, crawl, slide, and balance, they build coordination, spatial awareness, and confidence—turning each playful moment into an opportunity to learn something new.
At first glance, the finished space looks seamless and open. Behind that simplicity, though, was a difficult environment: numerous columns, uneven heights, and fragmented zones that made layout planning a true challenge.
Funlandia’s team chose not to work around these obstacles, but to shape them into the design itself, using a three-dimensional approach that makes even irregular space feel connected and natural.
We linked the entire play structure vertically, connecting multi-level Indoor Playground, Rope Courses, Rail Fly, and ground-level obstacle zones such as the Junior Warrior Courses and Super Runio.
Each level offers a different kind of adventure:
Different age groups can enjoy their own experiences while still engaging in shared play—making the space dynamic and social.
With limited floor area, we expanded upward.
The aerial course integrates rail fly, obstacles, and rope walks, allowing children to move freely between physical challenge and creativity.
The highlight is the Surf Safari Slide, stretching across multiple layers.
It’s not just a centerpiece; it also connects the upper and lower zones, creating a smooth flow through the entire play system.
The many structural columns once seemed like a problem, but they became part of the design language. We integrated them structurally and visually—using soft-wrapped materials, rounded edges, and playful finishes to make them feel intentional.
Instead of interruptions, these columns now add rhythm and character to the space. The result is a design that looks coherent, safe, and alive, even within a complex layout.
The color palette was equally important. Funlandia chose low-saturation macaron hues—soft pinks, creams, and warm yellows—to create a soothing and inviting atmosphere.
This gentle color balance reduces visual fatigue and makes children feel calm and secure. It also offers versatility: the space fits easily into shopping centers or community complexes, and naturally becomes a photogenic social destination for families.
From concept design and custom manufacturing to installation and final delivery, Funlandia worked to realize the client’s vision of “education through play.” In Zhengzhou, we transformed a challenging non-standard site into a beautiful, functional, and immersive play environment that brings learning and fun together.
At Funlandia, we believe that every playground can go beyond amusement—it can be a stage for growth, confidence, and creativity. Because every time a child plays, something meaningful happens.
