In Hefei, China, a new kind of sports entertainment destination is taking shape. Designed and delivered with the participation of Funlandia, the HOOLIPAY venue transforms a 2,000 m² indoor space into a vibrant environment where movement, challenge, and social play merge into one experience.
Rather than separating sports and entertainment, the project blends them into a single immersive setting—one where visitors can climb, race, explore, and compete in a dynamic, multi‑layered environment.
From the moment guests step inside, the space makes an impression.
The design moves away from the soft palettes often associated with traditional amusement venues and instead embraces a bold combination of red, white, black, and blue. The high‑contrast palette injects energy into the entire environment, creating a visually striking atmosphere and naturally photogenic spaces throughout the venue.
Dynamic lines and expressive graphic elements run across the interior. Angular structures, motion‑inspired typography, and layered visual details capture the feeling of movement and speed—almost as if the architecture itself is in motion.
The client’s tiger-themed IP is also integrated into the design language. Subtle tiger‑stripe patterns and mechanical textures appear across climbing structures, columns, and walls, transforming brand identity into part of the spatial experience while reinforcing the venue’s distinctive character.
One of the key challenges of indoor entertainment design is maximizing limited floor area. At HOOLIPAY, the solution was to treat the venue as a three‑dimensional playground.
Within the 2,000 m² footprint, Funlandia introduced a layered spatial system that connects elevated attractions, ground‑level play areas, and interactive elements into one continuous journey. Visitors naturally move through the venue by climbing upward, sliding down, and exploring different activity zones.
The result is a high‑capacity play environment where every level contributes to the overall experience.
Rising nearly 12 meters, the upper level forms the heart of the adventure experience and brings vertical excitement into the space.
Climbing walls constructed with high‑quality international materials offer multiple routes for different skill levels. The walls combine strict safety standards with visually striking forms that enhance the architectural landscape of the venue.
Above the ground level, suspended ropes courses create a multi‑path challenge system that feels like navigating through a mechanical jungle. Participants move from obstacle to obstacle before connecting to aerial tracks that glide through the upper structure.
Large feature slides descend dramatically from the upper level, serving both as a visual highlight and as a thrilling transition between floors.
Overhead rail systems allow visitors to glide across the space, offering a panoramic view of the venue while delivering an exhilarating sense of speed and freedom.
At the lower level, the experience shifts toward interactive play and family‑friendly activities.
A soft‑play exploration zone brings together trampolines, climbing nets, and classic play structures, creating a safe yet energetic environment where children can jump, crawl, and explore freely.
Nearby, a challenge‑based obstacle zone introduces competitive gameplay inspired by adventure courses. Rotating sweep bars, balance elements, and jumping platforms turn physical activity into an exciting test of agility, coordination, and reaction.
Digital interactive systems add another dimension to the experience, blending physical movement with technology‑driven gameplay and creating a more immersive and engaging environment.
